The Global Korean Studies major offers students the opportunity to study at prestigious universities abroad for one year.
Since 2014, the department has operated a one-year student exchange program with SOAS, University of London (UK). Starting in the fall of 2015, a tri-university East Asian Studies program was launched in collaboration with Sophia University (Japan) and City University of Hong Kong, where students take 12 credits in each country: Korean Studies in English at Sogang, Japanese Studies in English at Sophia, and Chinese Studies in English at CityU. Upon completion, students are awarded a joint East Asian Studies minor.
Looking ahead, the department plans to establish further exchange agreements with major universities in the United States, enabling students to study abroad for a full year.
